In the beginning God….he created the earth and all that is it. the Bible in Genesis 1 clearly states that the earth was FORMLESS and VOID. Darkness was over the surface of the deep…but something phenomenon was about to happen, because the SPIRIT OF GOD was hovering over the waters. At this point, God said, “let there be light”…and there was light!
I love God. How can it be otherwise? Maker of all that is seen and unseen, there is nothing that He did not make that is and everything we needed, he provided. That was pure intention, pure love, concern for creation. When he says that he is the alpha and omega, you cannot dispute or change that, sorry. Creation belongs to him. He fashioned it and put it together then made you and me, in His own image and after his likeness so that we MAY RULE OVER ALL CREATION (Gen 1:26). We needed that image and likeness to be able to accomplish that task because that was the only way we really could think in kine with him.
One of the most important things that God did in the 6 days that he created the earth was that He separated light from darkness. Then he made man, placed him in a garden he had made, east of Eden and gave him a simple instruction, “you are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.” I want to put it here that when the serpent came to tempt Eve, she talked of “the tree in the middle of the garden” and if you go back to chapter 2 verse 9, there were actually two trees in the middle of the garden; the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil! Am tempted to think that Adam and Eve had kept the command not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil but had also not eaten from the tree of life! Imagine!
So Eve eats this fruit and “sees that it was good” and so gives some to her husband, and he eats too…we all know what follows next. Consequence of lust for knowledge. Sometimes we think that we know and other times we want to know more. All of us have got that friend who will find you in the 39th minute of a conversation and want to get a summary so that they can fit in! Hahaha. Read 2Samuel 5:16-24 and you will see that David though confronted by the same problem twice, He enquired of the Lord on what to do. Easily, he could have chosen to attack the Philistines when they decided to strike again because “he had done it before anyway” but according to God, the approach was different, thou the same enemy.
Pastor John Carson of James 4:18….that if you resist the devil, he will flee from you…but it DOES NOT MEAN HE WONT COME BACK! Nobody is immune to the attack of the enemy and that must be the reason we are encouraged to consider it pure joy when we face trials of different kinds….knowing that the testing of our faith produces patience.
Fundamentally, let us not be too clever for God. He created the earth and He is perfect. He remains to be God, faithful to the end. He is the center, my saviour, redeemer, purifier, awesome, my daily bread…Jesus! I choose to die, that He may live, follow his instruction and find stillness in the fact that if he is the alpha and omega, then am somewhere in there, safe.
